Why should pet waste be picked up? Dog waste is not just a nuisance but is also a serious health hazard. Pet waste is a leading cause for nonpoint source pollution. Researchers have determined that polluted runoff is the number one cause of water pollution in the United States today. Nonpoint source pollution is when snowmelt and rainwater moves over and into the ground. Automobiles are another source of pollution. Did you know that one drop of oil on the ground will eventually make it into the streams, rivers, wetlands, lakes. Several studies have found that roughly 40% of Americans don't pick up their dogs' waste. Doo Cleanup addresses the ever growing environmental problems by disposing of the waste and disinfecting our tools and shoes after each yard.
Numerous parasites, tapeworms, whipworms, and including roundworm are transmitted through dog waste. When the infected dog waste is left on the ground, the eggs of the roundworms and other parasites can linger in the soil for many years. As a result anyone who comes in contact with the soil also comes in contact with the infected eggs.
Since children love to play in the dirt at parks, playgrounds, and in the back yard they run the greatest risk of becoming infected. They tend to put their hands in their mouths or rub their eyes. Even teens and adults out playing soccer or football in an open area could be in danger. Parasitic infections can make humans extremely sick, and for pregnant women, can pose a serious harm to their unborn child.
